From Surviving to Becoming - My Mission

I'm Zahra, the person behind Flexotopia, my baby! :)

For most of my life, I lived in constant fight-or-flight mode (mostly fight!). My therapist once described me as a warrior who was always holding up her shield and sword, ready to protect herself and survive. Anxiety crippled me at different stages of my life. I've always been a very goal-oriented person, but anxiety, other challenges, and my old identity kept getting in my way.

But I never stopped trying! Giving up was never my thing.

I kept searching for ways to understand myself, reshape my identity, and become the person I wanted to be (and it's a never-ending journey!). That's what led me to yoga, fitness, neuroscience, and the study of human behavior. And that's why I created Flexotopia: to share what I've learned and experienced along the way with you ;)

Everything I share here is something I've learned, experienced, and put into practice in my own life first.

I'm on a MISSION to help you build the identity you've always wanted, whether that means getting fitter, building healthier habits, making better decisions, or taking action toward your goals.

But it's also about something deeper: questioning the stories you keep telling yourself, like “I'm lazy” or “I'll never achieve my goals,” instead of letting them define who you are (because those stories aren't who you are!).

I want to help you become more aware of the patterns that shape your behavior so you can take small, intentional steps toward the person you want to become: your FUTURE SELF.

From Curiosity to Expertise

My journey with movement started long before Flexotopia. I've tried all kinds of sports throughout my life, from basketball and tennis to running, aerobics, and functional fitness. For me, exercise was always more than just staying fit. It was a form of therapy.

But my curiosity about myself, my mind, and why I felt the way I did eventually led me to yoga. And that's where I found something I wanted to explore more deeply.

I started practicing yoga in 2013 and became a certified yoga teacher in 2019, completing a 200-hour Yoga Alliance teacher training and exploring Sivananda, Satyananda, Iyengar, and Ashtanga yoga. I've also been teaching fitness since 2021.

I studied Exercise Physiology and am currently studying Medical Neurosciences at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. I've been involved in neuroscience research since 2022, including anxiety, depression, Alzheimer's disease, and systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

For me, science and personal experience go hand in hand. I love understanding why something works, questioning what doesn't, and turning that knowledge into something useful in everyday life.
